It does go both ways...I absolutely agree with you. It does go both ways, and I thought I mentioned that in my post. This kind of thing happens throughout sports fandom. My biggest issue, and the point of my post, is that these are my experiences as a Steelers fan living in the Baltimore suburbs. I live her, and grew up here. I was born here. This is my home. But I'm looked at as an outsider and treated in a negative way by many (not all!) just because I'm a Steelers fan. It's very hard. If I didn't feel so passionately about my team, I would just adopt the Ravens and get on with it. Why subject myself to this kind of abuse? I can't just shut it off, though. The Steelers are my team, and that's what I hoped to explain in my post. I am happy when my Steelers win, not because of who they beat. That's the way all fans should be.

Thanks, Leeann!

EricEric Freedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03077355362215517201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6073119012671743732.post-22505644709931458212014-09-30T10:21:40.295-04:002014-09-30T10:21:40.295-04:00I think it goes both ways. I've had some reall...I think it goes both ways. I've had some really crappy things said to me by Steelers fans.

I don't like ugliness amongst fans at all. For instance, I have a friend who is a Panthers fan. We massacred them on Sunday. But all I said to her before the game is "May the best team win." After the game, just a <3 on her FB wall. No need to be nasty. Same thing with the Patriots getting creamed last night. Have friends who are Patriots fans and didn't say anything.

Was I happy that the Ravens beat the Steelers and by a pretty wide margin? Sure! But I didn't say anything to my friends who are Steelers fans. And some of them are equally respectful to me and some are decidedly not.

I think it says way more about who the person themselves and how they take care of others' feelings no matter how their own team did.
